FDG provided professional services for a new North American manufacturing plant for Gambro Renal Products, part of Gambro Group, a Sweden-based global leader in renal (kidney) and cell-based therapies. The 210,000 SF plant produces 10 million Polyflux® dialyzers annually to serve patients with kidney failure who must undergo dialysis treatment several times weekly for survival.

Working closely with Gambro, FDG conducted an exhaustive search of more than 300 cities throughout the United States and Canada to determine the ideal location for Gambro’s new manufacturing facility. Once a shortlist of potential sites was identified, a plan to complete the site selection and incentive negotiations was developed.

FDG then proceeded with detailed architecture and engineering design.

By building this $110 million dialyzer plant in the U.S., Gambro will support its strategy to further grow in the expanding market for synthetic dialyzers. Since 1999, Gambro has made investments to increase production capacity to about 30 million synthetic dialyzers annually. The company has major dialyzer manufacturing plants in Hechingen, Germany, and Meyzieu, France. The company’s U.S. headquarters are located in Lakewood, Colorado.
