General Electric commissioned FDG to provide site analysis, space programming, preliminary design and detailed design services for the new state of the art Global Research Center located on the campus of the Technical University of Munich.  This facility is the 4th in a series of Research and Development facilities developed by General Electric around the world.  EFPM partnered with Aukett + Heese, a Munich architectural  firm completed the design.

  • Total square footage for Phase I is 104,000 square feet with possible   expansion capability up to 189,000 square feet;
  • The center pursues efforts in several areas, concentrating on development projects in renewable energy, medical imaging, and materials science.  Accommodated developing advanced  applications of materials and lighting technology for the automotive industry;
  • 11,090 square foot Conference center and technology display area includes audio-visual capabilities and internet connectivity in the 150 person, 4,000 square foot symposium area;
  • Employee Support areas include a staff cafeteria and coffee bar, locker rooms and meeting rooms;
  • GE products are utilized throughout the research center;
